I offer a full gas fire service. This includes the following checks:
- chimney integrity, including blockages and leaks;
- correct installation and appropriate clearances around the gas fire;
- safe operation the gas appliance itself, including gas pressure and safety devices;
- ventilation requirements;
- carbon monoxide detector in the room, if there is any.
Unlike boilers, gas fires are open-flued appliance, meaning they draw the air from combustion from the room itself. Any issue with the correct operation of the appliance could cause products of combustion to enter the room instead of going up the chimney. As such it’s even more important to get your gas fire serviced every year, usually at the beginning of winter before you start using it.
